Emollients

General properties
Emollients are ingredients that help soften and smooth the skin by improving its hydration. They work by creating a thin protective layer on the surface of the epidermis, which helps prevent transepidermal water loss and restore the skin barrier. Emollients often contain lipids or oils that fill the spaces between the cells of the stratum corneum, thus strengthening its structure and integrity. Frequently used in care for dry, sensitive or atopic skin, they provide comfort and suppleness while reducing feelings of tightness.
The properties of the ingredients in different formulations depend on their content and specific use.
