Urea

General properties

Urea is a recognized moisturizing active ingredient, widely used in dermatology for its keratolytic and humectant effects. Its action within the skin depends on its concentration:

- <10%: As a natural component of the skin's Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF), it attracts and retains water, thereby improving deep skin hydration.

- >10%: Thanks to its keratolytic action, it acts as an exfoliant, promoting the shedding of dead cells, which smooths the skin and reduces roughness.

It is particularly beneficial for dry, rough, or hyperkeratotic skin, and is often recommended in the treatment of psoriatic-prone skin.

A multifunctional ingredient to restore skin's softness and suppleness.

The properties of the ingredients in different formulations depend on their content and specific use.
